Here are some of the locations I started to look at as possibilities for filming the commercial for Garbo.
I had initially wanted to film the commercial in an old Art Deco style cinema - especially fitting for a company called Garbo!
THE REX CINEMA, BERKHAMPSTEAD

This cinema originally opened in 1938, but closed down in 1988. It was then re-opened to the public in 2004 - keeping the decor and charm that it had originally opened with back in 1938.
THE ODYSSEY CINEMA, ST ALBANS

Unfortunately this cinema isn't open yet as restorations on the building are still being done. The project is being undertaken by James Hannaway, the CEO of the Rex Cinema shown above.
After having no success at either of these cinemas (even after much begging!) I then thought i'd move onto the idea of using an Art Deco hotel. After much searching, the only hotel I could think of that would fit the bill was Claridges. Would they let a measly university student film inside their luxury hotel? No. Probably not.
Luckily my parents stay at Claridges fairly often and so I was able to persuade my Mother to take some pictures of the interior of the suite they were staying in. The bath tiles are my favourite!
It then occured to me that an outside location may be a better idea. I grew up around Hampstead Garden Suberb and know of some beautiful public gardens and open spaces around Hampstead Heath. After trekking across the Heath in the freezing cold for many hours looking for the perfect place to film, I stumbled across the Pagola and Hill Gardens - tucked away in the middle of some woods. It couldn't be a more perfect place for the shoot!
Although this location doesn't have any obvious Art Deco or vintage styling to it, I think it could look great when shot in black and white.
